At-Bristol is a hands-on science centre in the middle of Bristol, committed to making science accessible to all. Our team create engaging interactive exhibitions for the UK and internationally. Our exciting new interactive exhibition ‘Food’, opening this summer, will tell the stories of food from farm to fork. Over three years we anticipate that over 700,000 visitors will engage with ‘Food’.

By exploring the amazing science behind growing, cooking and eating food we aim to spark a deeper interest in food. The exhibition will encourage visitors to reflect on their food choices and inspire practical action beyond their visit like experimenting with new recipes and growing and nurturing their own vegetables.

Integral to the exhibition will be a rolling calendar of seasonal events and activities delivered by our own team in collaboration with visiting chefs, scientists, growers and producers.

‘Food’ supports the aims of the Daylesford Foundation through a practical, hands-on approach to educating children and young people about food, making connections between the food we eat, its impact on our health and wellbeing and the environment.

With the support of Daylesford Foundation we are able to realise two important and exciting areas within the food exhibition, Grow-it! and Honey Factory.

Grow-it! will be based around a characterful greenhouse and potting shed that look like they have just been transported from an allotment. Visitors will be able to get hands-on potting their own seeds and be inspired by local growers.

At the Honey factory visitors will be able to peer inside a beehive, learn about why we need bees and other insects for food production and discover how crucial pollinators are. Our little visitors can dress-up and follow the waggle dance of a honey bee.

We have brought together an expert advisory panel to inform the content of the exhibition and development is now underway. We look forward to working in partnership with the Daylesford Foundation.
